Register A Trade Mark
Register A Trade Mark: make it unique and it could become a brand name
Before you register a trade mark, a great deal of thought should be put into the saying or logo that will represent your company or line of products. To have an impact, it should somehow reflect your company.
Not all companies think of this when designing and choosing a trademark. One example of this is when Ciba-Geigy broke up into two different companies. The chemical branch chose a butterfly as its trademark. To this day, no one thinks of chemicals when they see a butterfly nor do they relate a butterfly to a Swiss company. This trademark while being cute, serves no practical purpose.
Worse yet, many people when they think of butterflies and chemicals think of Monsanto and their genetic wheat product. Because it has incorporated herbicides in the plant, the Monarch butterflies are dying off. This is one trademark that has a negative impact on a company. That is, unless they like having their products which are chemicals, being associated with death.
When deciding on which trademark is right for your company, take your time. This is something that should be done right the first time. It takes a considerable amount of time and money to promote a new trademark. If the wrong one is chosen and then changed, all the time and money spent is wasted.
Wasting money with any company is not looked highly upon and could get some people fired. So take your time and get it right the first time before you rush out and register a trade mark. Your job could depend on getting it right the first time.
