Registration of Trademark: if it’s worth developing, it’s worth protecting

After the registration of trademark has been completed, many submitters always wonder what the progress of their submission is. This is the purpose of the TARR website. TARR stands for Trademark Application and Registration Retrieval.

To use or track the progress of your application, one of four things can be submitted. You can use the US serial number of the product. The US registration number can also be used to the USPTO reference number that can retrieve all the information that is available on the application.  If your application is from overseas, the International Registration number can be used to perform the same task.

If you need assistance with this system, their email address to use is Trademarkassistancecwenter@uspto.gov. If the medium of communication preferred is the telephone, then please call 571-272-9250 or 1-800-786-9199.

If technical assistance is needed with the TARR system or a glitch in its system, an email should be sent to TARR@uspto.gov during normal business hours. If a problem arises outside normal business hours, please use this email address usptoinfo@uspto.gov. For telephone assistance after hours, the contact number is 1-800-786-9199.

This system is made available to the general public and its bandwidth is limited. If you need to make bulk downloads, the main USPTO website should be used. Bulk data can also be made available through a purchase from the USPTO.

The only time access is denied a user is when the traffic level of the site reaches its capacity. Once the level of traffic diminishes, the site will be accessible again.

The normal process time of a trademark is 5 to 6 months. If it has been longer than that, then contacting the USPTO is advisable about registration of trademark you submitted.
